A Quest for Connection
Aleph began with a journey. Not to the ancient Levantine coast, but through the pages of history, searching for the origin of the ideas we live in. This quest led to the Phoenicians: master merchants, artisans, and navigators who did more than trade in purple dye. They traded in connection.
Their greatest export was the 22-letter consonantal alphabet, the Phoinikeia Grammata that became the ancestor of our own. But the Phoenicians were also master artisans, renowned for their exquisite metalwork and granulation, jewelry that was often apotropaic, a talisman for protection on a long journey. Aleph was founded at this intersection: between meaning and material.
